Food Fight!

Local chefs and mixologists will face off to create their most amazing tastes while raising money and awareness for scleroderma. The Rocky Mountain Chapter has been fighting to spread awareness and educate the public about scleroderma for more than 15 years. The Scleroderma Foundation is a nonprofit dedicated to promoting education, advancing research and providing patient support for this autoimmune disease that creates a chronic hardening of the skin and connective tissue, and often causes fibrosis and serious damage to internal organs.

Last year, Parker’s own Chef Brando paired up with Chain Reaction Brewing Company to raise money for the Scleroderma Foundation and increase awareness for this rare disease. The pair were auctioned off in the live auction and raised $1,900 for two food and beer pairing dinners that went for $950 each. Menu and photos to come in Parker Lifestyle’s September issue, featuring beer and food. For details and to buy tickets, visit ChefFoodFight.com.

Helping Others Reach the STARS

Coloradans have a passion for everything outdoors – skiing, cycling, kayaking, hiking, camping and more. It’s what makes this state so unique and everyone deserves the opportunity to experience the exciting outdoor adventures that Colorado has to offer. This is the mission of the non-profit Steamboat Adaptive Recreational Sports, or STARS, located in Steamboat: to empower and enrich the lives for people of all ages with cognitive and physical disabilities through adaptive recreational activities, ultimately helping build confidence, self-esteem and independence.

Donations to STARS can provide a Wounded Warrior with the gift of a 3-day ski camp, or give a child with spina bifida the opportunity to enjoy adaptive horseback riding. One thing is for certain, everyone should have the chance to embrace the Colorado way of life and because of STARS, they can.

There are so many ways to participate or donate. Visit SteamboatStars.com for information.
