Tour de Ladies Women-only Cycling Event Donates $17,438 to Crisis Center

The Tour de Ladies women-only cycling event, which took place on July 9, 2016, raised $17,438 for the Crisis Center, which provides programs and services to domestic violence victims. The Tour de Ladies empowers women through pedal power by encouraging women to be physically active, train for the event, and participate at the level they feel comfortable. It also empowers women through the financial contribution of the event’s proceeds to a local nonprofit that primarily serves women.

“Tour de Ladies is excited to increase its contribution to the Crisis Center by 30% over last year and nearly three times as much as our first year,” said Becki Rupp, chairwoman of this year’s Tour de Ladies event. This year’s Tour de Ladies event had 467 registered riders and numerous sponsors, including title sponsor Groove Subaru. “It really takes organizations like Tour de Ladies to assist us and be a part of the fight against domestic violence to help us achieve our mission,” said Jennifer Walker, Executive Director of the Crisis Center. “We need this kind of support to build a strong, safe and healthy community.” The Tour de Ladies is hosted by the Colorado Riders Club, a recreational cycling club in Parker that supports safe cycling practices and the social benefits of group cycling. Tour de Ladies is a fund of the Douglas County Community Foundation.
