Summertime Hot Spots 14

Summer is the Perfect Time in Colorado to Lounge with Friends, Craft Brew in Hand

What better way to celebrate Father’s Day—or, let’s be honest, any day this summer—than ordering up a craft brew, taking a seat on a patio and hanging with the guys?

Throw in a pool table, some live music, maybe a TV screen, and that’s a grade A evening. There’s no shortage of places to hang with the guys in Parker, but here we give you a sampling of some great hot spots to relax with friends and watch a beautiful Colorado summer afternoon unfold.

Takoda Tavern

12311 Pine Bluffs Way # A, Parker, CO 80134

The sign out front Takoda Tavern says it all: A Friend to Everyone. Owner Bob Noble says everyone is welcome here, from bikers to babies, from large gatherings to intimate ones.

Takoda features a large horseshoe bar, expansive views of the Front Range, plenty of TVs, live music offerings and friendly longtime staff. A new two-story building for Takoda is currently under construction right next door and is scheduled to open at year’s end.

Downhill Brewing Co.

18921 Plaza Drive, Parker, CO 80134

The newly christened Downhill Brewing Co.—formerly Elk Mountain Brewing—is a guy’s guy’s hangout, with its ski lodge decor, seven big-screen TVs playing all sports all the time, trivia night and great patio. There’s also rotating food trucks and an upcoming pizza bar. And did we mention the beer? That’s what new owners Jake Minturn and Doug Hyndman do so well. With 12 craft beers on tap, you won’t get bored here.

20 Mile Tap House

12543 N. Highway 83, Parker, CO 80134

This neighborhood pub features Colorado craft beers and spirits, with 18 beers on tap, and made-from-scratch food including a wide selection of burgers and dinner salads and a weekend brunch. 20 Mile Tap House also offers 18 big-screen TVs, pool and a live music schedule, and the crowning gem just may be the large covered patio for amazing mountain views and two fire pits that will be the highlight of your summer gatherings.
